Viet Nam is being the top country by imports in the world. As of 2015, imports in Viet Nam was 2,086,803,442 million volume, at constant 2005 prices - national currency that accounts for 39.78 % of the world's imports. The top 5 countries (others are Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Iran, and Colombia) account for 87.86 % of it. The world's total imports was estimated at 5,245,424,709 million volume, at constant 2005 prices - national currency in 2015.

Imports of goods and services consist of purchases, barter, or receipts of gifts or grants, of goods and services by residents from non- residents. The treatment of exports and imports in the System of National Accounts is generally identical with that in the balance of payments accounts as described in the Balance of Payments Manual.
