Stratospheric Ozone Depletion - Consumption of Ozone-Depleting Substances - Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs)

(ODP Metric Tons)

China is being the top country by consumption of hydrochlorofluorocarbons in the world. As of 2013, consumption of hydrochlorofluorocarbons in China was 15,757.9 ODP metric tons that accounts for 49.20 % of the world's consumption of hydrochlorofluorocarbons. The top 5 countries (others are Republic of Korea, the United States of America, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil) account for 68.42 % of it. The world's total consumption of hydrochlorofluorocarbons was estimated at 32,029.8 ODP metric tons in 2013.

Ozone-depleting substances are any substance containing chlorine or bromine that destroys the stratospheric ozone layer. The stratospheric ozone absorbs most of the biologically damaging ultraviolet radiation.
